A Message from Our
Regional Superintendent |
|
|
A colleague once remarked to me, “It is amazing how quickly June follows September.” It seems each school year passes by faster than the last! In many ways it feels like just yesterday when the school year began, and now we hear the final bell for another successful school year!
These last days of the 2023-2024 school year have been filled with many celebrations! Over the last week, our 8th grade students have graduated from their respective schools and are ready for their high school journeys to begin! Our youngest students celebrated the end of their preschool
and Kindergarten years with special ceremonies and performances. The month of May was packed with field trips, field days and other activities to celebrate the end of the school year and arrival of summer!
We were thrilled to have the opportunity to celebrate several of our amazing PERCES teachers who were recognized for their accomplishments in the classroom and beyond! Congratulations to Mrs. Mary Crossen (Mary of Nazareth Catholic School) and Mrs. Bridget Kelly (Saint Bede School) who were recipients of the 2024 Diocese of Pittsburgh Golden Apple Award. Mrs. Crossen and Mrs. Kelly were honored by Bishop Zubik at the annual Golden Apple Award Dinner on May 28. Congratulations to Mrs. Rebecca Baverso (Saint Bede School) who was honored as the 2023-2024 Holocaust Educator of the Year. Ms. Baverso was recognized by the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh at their annual Waldman Arts and Writing Award Ceremony at Chatham University on May 9.
Of course, our schools are blessed with amazing teachers, administrators and staff. Please join me in thanking them for all they do for their students and schools! Each building has incredible faculties that give their all each day. Keep them in your prayers as they begin their well deserved summer break.
Next week, our principals will gather at Saint Therese School for our annual Principal Summer Conference. We welcome Mr. Mark Grgurich to our Principal Conference next week in anticipation of Christ the Divine Teacher Catholic Academy (CDTCA) in Aspinwall joining PERCES on July 1, 2024. We are thrilled to welcome this amazing school to our region!
Enjoy the summer! Before we know it, August 22 will be here and the doors will open on another school year!
May God Bless and Protect you always!
Jonathan Cuniak,
Regional Superintendent for PERCES |

Preschool and 6th grade took the time to be tourists in our own city by exploring the Frick and the Natural History Museums! They enjoyed many parts of the day, especially pretending to drive this antique car with friends. |

Holy Family Students Enjoy "Chargers on A Mission" Day
|
|
"Chargers on a Mission" Day is a favorite for many HFCS students! The day starts with a prayer service and then students enjoy a carnival-like atmosphere throughout the school day. The school uses the proceeds to support organizations like Chimbote Mission, local food banks, pro-life pregnancy centers, and Wounded Warrior. Principal DiLonardo shared that "we are blessed with many donations from school families and the help of our own faculty, staff, and family volunteers to make the day a success." |

Mary of Nazareth students enjoyed s’mores that they made in their solar ovens to help them learn about solar energy! We love their creativity for this very yummy science project! |
